Thiago F. Bernardes is a professor in the Department of Animal Science at the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), Lavras, Minas Gerais, Brazil. He received his bachelor's degree in Agronomy Engineering from the UFLA in 2000, his MS degree in Animal Production from the University of São Paulo State (UNESP) in 2003, and his PhD in Animal Science from UNESP in 2006. In 2005 he carried out a program on Forage Conservation at the University of Turin, Italy. In 2014 he obtained a post-doctoral grant from the Department of Animal Science at the University of Florida, USA. Prior to joining University of Lavras in 2010, Dr. Bernardes was a professor at the Federal Rural University of Amazon (Belém, Brazil) from 2008 to 2010.
Prof. Bernardes teaches Forage Crops and Forage Conservation for undergraduate and graduate students. He conducts research on Forage Conservation with particular emphasis on tropical silage production. He is coordinator of the Brazilian Forage Team (NEFOR - http://www.neforufla.com.br) in his Department. The mission of the NEFOR is to discover and disseminate new knowledge about tropical forage systems.
