Silostop Handrail System for Safe Working at Height Operation of Silage Clamp

Silostop Handrail System for Safe Working at Height Operation of Silage Clamp

The Silostop proprietary handrail system has been developed for the safe edge protection of silage clamps for operators requiring access.

The handrail system is equally suited to ARK or other sloping wall systems (23 degrees) or vertical wall systems and with a maximum jaw width of 150mm should encompass fitting to a variety of different systems from new or retrospectively.

The handrail is calculated to 0.36kN/m and once fitted, a safe working method of operation can be developed with easy removal and replacement of any 2,5m section. A 4m handrail section is also being developed.

During clamp fill the handrails can be lifted off their supporting spigots and laid to the side to allow compacting machinery unfettered access although wheel compaction is still possible with the side handrail in place.

Commenting on the handrail system, Kevin Bywater , Health and Safety Manager at Future Biogas observed “having reviewed our requirements, we trialled on several sites and we are very pleased with the handrail system”

Juan Sebastien, Senior Project Manager at Acorn Qualitas specified Silostop handrail systems for their newly installed AD clamps “The handrails were fitted to the 4m high wall system from Silostop from new and we now have had a season of clamp fill using this system”
